Yasmine Ekman Munir

”Yasmine moves on another level, an elementary one where the action itself is seen in the picture. She calls it playfulness, desire and sensuality. The colours become shapes and play with each other. It is reminiscent of touching, of some sort of pleasure of the eye and the hand – a line, a brushstroke draws attention, transforms and give passion to the pictoral elements. The dizziness of the confrontation lies in its uncertainty”

A passage quoted from the text in the exhibition catalogue “The painted character”, 2002,
Director Thomas Millroth, Ystad Art Museum

I ask questions and explore processes about relationships, identity and ethnicity from a daily life perspective.

The expression is based on emotional experiences as I express in various “stories” or scenes, often in the same picture as turn to be a code language as guiding me to get a structure in my everyday internal chaos.
